India’s Robotic Rise: A Global Leadership Blueprint
India is making significant progress toward becoming a global ‘Robotics Hub’. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics, and Information Technology of India, released the preliminary national robotics policy for public comment. This strategic initiative supports manufacturing and Industry 4.0 and emphasizes cyber-physical systems (CPS). The minister has requested input from startups, manufacturing companies, and Industry 4.0 stakeholders via MyGov by October 31.
This initiative’s success depends on aligning it with India’s strategic AI planning and encouraging robotics and AI ecosystem collaboration. The draft national policy acknowledges AI’s significant impact on cyber-physical systems, particularly robots. It recognizes robotic automation’s impact on global social, economic, and technological consequences in the public and commercial sectors. The strategy focuses on industry, agriculture, healthcare, and national security to make India a robotics leader.
This vision includes the ‘National Robotics Mission’, implemented by the Robotics Innovation Unit (RIU) as part of IndiaAI, India’s AI platform. A responsive agency, the RIU supports India’s dynamic robotics startup, research, and innovation environment.
