India Invites US Businesses to Invest in Vibrant Tourism Sector
G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Development of North Eastern Region, addressed a community gathering hosted by the Consulate General of India in New York and urged US companies to invest in India’s strong and diverse tourism sector.
Reddy emphasized India’s economic growth, Make in India initiatives, the country’s start-up ecosystem, and other measures being implemented to enhance industries across the country, including tourism. He told the US companies interested in investing in India’s tourist sector that they would be welcomed and supported enthusiastically by the Government and the ministry.
Further he added that the tourism business in India’s northeast region has enormous potential, but there has not been adequate private investment, so tourism cannot be grown and advanced.
According to the minister, India has focused on and prioritized a sustainable and inclusive future for all, technological transformation, digital public infrastructure, multilateral institutions for the twenty-first century, and women-led development during its G20 presidency.
The Government of India has taken a whole-of-government approach to tourism and that many ministries, including External Affairs and Civil Aviation, are cooperating in this area.
