Hyderabad Shines as the Launchpad for Several Aerospace Missions
Skyroot Aerospace, a Hyderabad-based company, is preparing for the orbital launch of Vikram-1. Bharath Daka, Co-Founder, Skyroot Aerospace Pvt Ltd, stated at an AI summit that the Vikram-1 rocket, a large multi-stage rocket, will carry a satellite into orbit. The company aims to launch the rocket by the end of 2024 or early 2025. The Co-Founder also praised T-Hub, a Hyderabad-based platform, for supporting the growth of AI startups.
In other aerospace news, Dhruva Space Pvt Ltd has announced its LEAP-3 mission. Sanjay Nekkanti, CEO, Dhruva Space Pvt Ltd, explained that this mission will handle the first payloads for various clients and will be launched through SAT search. The company plans several launches for 2025, including two to three microsatellites and additional P-Dot series satellites.
Speaking on space tourism, Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary of the Information, Technology, Electronics & Communications (ITE&C) Department, Government of Telangana, questioned its future at the summit. Daka predicts that while space travel may not be affordable soon, it could become more accessible within the next decade. Meanwhile, Nekkanti projected that space tourism and settlements might be feasible in the next 15-20 years.
