German State of Rhineland Explores Investment Opportunities in Telangana
D Sridhar Babu, IT and Industries Minister, Government of Telangana, announced that the German State of Rhineland is interested in investing and establishing business partnerships in the region. This development followed a meeting with a high-level delegation from Rhineland, led by Daniela Schmitt, Minister for Economic Affairs, Transport, Agriculture, and Viniculture, Federal Government of Germany.
The meeting, held at the Secretariat, included Michaela Küchler, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of India, Chennai and Amita Desai, Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany, Hyderabad. Discussions focused on exploring potential partnerships in sectors including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, vaccines, packaging, poultry, agriculture, automobiles, and logistics.
Minister Babu emphasized Telangana’s favorable business climate, highlighting the efficient approval processes that make it a preferred investment destination. He remarked on the shared characteristics between the two regions and the potential for mutual economic growth through collaboration. He also noted Telangana’s rising reputation as a global hub for life sciences and pharmaceuticals, supported by a skilled workforce and advanced infrastructure.
Further strengthening the bond, the Minister invited the Rhineland delegation to attend BioAsia 2025, an event that will focus on life sciences in Telangana. In response, the delegation expressed their interest in having the Minister visit Rhineland to explore its economy and industries. Both sides agreed to initiate a ‘Sister State’—an official partnership between two regions that extends beyond its national borders—to encourage long-term collaborations across various sectors.
