Chris Skeith to Take the Baton as UFI’s Next CEO
UFI, the global association of the exhibition industry, has announced the appointment of Chris Skeith, Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE), as its next Chief Executive Officer. Skeith will take over the position from Kai Hattendorf, Managing Director and CEO, UFI, on January 1, 2025. Throughout his career, Skeith has held various key positions, including overseeing the merger of event sector associations at the Events Industry Alliance (EIA). He has served as CEO of the Association of Event Organisers (AEO) since 2014. In 2021, he was awarded an OBE for his contributions to the events industry.
Skeith has been actively involved with UFI for many years, holding leadership roles such as chairing the Associations Committee and serving on UFI’s Executive Committee. His long-standing collaboration with the current UFI management team, including working on event management and advocacy issues, has further prepared him for his new role.
According to Geoff Dickinson, President, UFI, Skeith was chosen from a pool of strong candidates. Dickinson highlighted Skeith’s proven leadership and extensive background in the industry, emphasizing that he is well-equipped to lead the association into the future as a global trade body. Expressing enthusiasm about his new role, Skeith stated that he looks forward to continuing to support the events industry on a global level. He praised UFI team’s efforts in setting standards for research, advocacy, collaboration, and community excellence. He shared his enthusiasm toward building on their achievements.
