BC Jindal Group Plans Major Investment in Renewable Component Manufacturing

BC Jindal Group announced its plans to enter the renewable energy component manufacturing sector with a total investment target of INR 15,000 crore by 2030. This investment is part of the group’s strategy to diversify its operations and support India’s clean energy goals.
As part of the first phase, the group will invest INR 4,000 crore to set up facilities for solar cell and module production (2 GW capacity), 4 Gigawatt hours (GWh) of battery storage, and a solar glass manufacturing unit with a capacity of 1,200 tons per day. The conglomerate is currently considering Maharashtra and Gujarat as potential locations for these facilities.
According to a spokesperson from BC Jindal Group, this strategic investment plan aligns with the group’s commitment toward contributing to the country’s goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
The spokesperson foresaw a rising demand for end-to-end products and highlighted that the group plans to leverage its expertise to meet these demands by offering sustainable solutions in the renewable energy space. Also outlined was that about 40 percent of the output from these new facilities is expected to be used for the group’s renewable energy generation projects.
