Rightly hailed as India’s growth engine, the sector contributes to about 30 percent of the country’s GDP, 48 percent of exports, employs over 11 crore people, and encompasses 63 million registered enterprises.
Acknowledging their crucial role, the Government, in the approaching Union Budget 2024–25, is expected to offer them significant relief, such as some relaxation in taxes, streamlined GST processes, and overall improvements in ease of doing business. To facilitate MSMEs and SMEs increase their footprint and facilitate their reach in new markets, it is anticipated that the Government will be extending support to them to participate in trade fairs both in India and globally.
